Cool Columns
In this peaceful introduction to adding in columns, students have lots of room to represent the five equations. They can draw, place small leaves, or even trace acorns. It's a great test-run for transitioning from horizontal addition problems to vertical. All of the sums are less than or equal to 20, and one is less than 10.
