Introducing MATH! Grade 1 by ArgoPrep: 600+ Practice Questions

Get it!Great practice book for my first grader.

Cutesy font is ridiculous!Wow, I just got this book and was so excited until I opened it up. It looks to me like just pages and pages of notes that someone handwrote on graph paper. Most of the directions and page headings are in this ridiculous cutesy font- which I anticipate will add an extra curve ball to the learning process. Unprofessional. What is it with learning materials these days, they seem to emphasize everything but the actual learning material! Just have a normal font, like this one in my review, and have the important terms and concepts in bold. Math IS fun. Learning about math is fun too. Beginning math and the foundation for math should be solid, clear, and concise- it doesn't need squiggles and drawings of monsters Or at least have the illustrations match the subject matter and problems. The silly font makes me think it is heavy on the fluff and light on the substance. To be honest, I am writing this review before using the book. I am just disappointed because I wanted a serious workbook and the font is distracting to the eye and mind.

5 STARS! The occasional error makes the book even more educational.We are currently using ArgoPREP workbooks as the main math for my (3) homeschoolers. The workbooks consist mostly/all word problems and seem to be common core or old math friendly. Each concept starts with a page or so of very well done explanations that lead you through the steps slowly. There there is just the right amount of practice questions. Not too many yet still enough to really put the knowledge to use. Our favorite part? We LOVE the grid paper and doodles throughout the entire book. Having those makes the math seem much less daunting. It was literally the reason we first looked at this brand. There is one thing you HAVE TO KNOW before deciding to buy, and it's a weird one to accept... The book is occasionally wrong. It's full of word problems with multiple choice answers and sometimes the question is too vague to narrow it down to just one answer. Other times none of the answers seem correct. The thing it... that's a GOOD thing. Did they do it on purpose? Hah. Probably not. But when in real life do we get handed all the answers? It's nice to have my child tell me what piece of information he needs to actually get an answer. I just make up the part he needs and we keep going. But it's SO MUCH MORE LEARNING with the book designed this way. In fact I have bought a book or so ahead because I worry it will get fixed and ruin one of the parts we love about it.

I purchased this workbook, the common core math and ELA and I love them all.I love these workbooks. My daughters school sends home work sheets but there is no explanation so at times I’m not sure if I’m showing her the right way to get to the answer. Having the Argo app on my phone lets me make sure I’m showing her the proper way to get the conclusion each time. I also purchased the common core math and ELA. I will continue to buy these books

Works for children needing some extra math help!!So far so good as my son has improved with his math quickly

Not at all child friendly.Too much on each page. Tiny spaces to write in. Not sure if any first grader could use this book.
