Kids Summer Academy by ArgoPrep: Grade 9-10

Amazing Workbook for 9th graders looking for extra practice!I was searching for a summer workbook for my 9th grader. There weren't many good options to choose from, but this book stood out so I decided to give it a try. Turns out it was a great choice! This book is very comprehensive and well structured. It is divided into days and weeks, so my child can work in small chunks and make daily progress. This will encourage him to study and prepare for the fall. What I like most is that every question comes with online video explanations! Wow! As a parent who doesn't remember 9th or 10th grade math, Argo Prep's video explanations are a life saver! The teacher who explains the questions is amazing. Highly recommended!!!

I like the bookStructure! I love structure. This is what this book offers. You do not need to think about what and when to give your child. It is all outlined in this workbook. Day 1 is Grammar. Day 2 Reading. Days 3-5 Math. Day 6 Reading or Writing and Day 7 Maze or Puzzle. Every question is very well written. The complexity of questions slowly goes up as you progress over the weeks. Nice found! I will use it with my other kids as well.

Required videos are not accessibleThis book would probably be great if you could actually access the videos to help with the lessons. Unfortunately, the links and QR codes given all lead to a "dead" website that doesn't load. And the updated website lists no access and customer service is completely non-responsive. Waste of money at this point.

No explanations on how to do the problemsThis would not be a bad workbook, if you were a teacher and were able to explain to your child how to do the problems that they got wrong or didn't understand. I could not figure out how to do the math problems that my daughter got wrong. The workbook provides good practice problems with answers (that you access online), but no explanations. This book does not teach your child (or the parent) anything. If you have a good grasp of high school math, then don't be deterred by my review, but if like me, you are looking for a book that explains mathematical concepts to your child, this is not the right book for you. This workbook has problems and answers only, with little to no explanations.

Pros and ConsThere are pros and cons. Pros- I like the different subjects. You can download the answer key. Cons- their helper website doesn't work well. Went to watch videos to help with math problems and it would not load.
